VRM and Aluminum I/O Heatsinks
A VRM heatsink on the MOSFETs and chokes is connected via an embedded heat pipe to the aluminum I/O cover to increase mass and surface area for dissipation.

M.2 Heatsinks and Backplates
Large aluminum heatsinks provide ample surface area to cool the installed M.2 drives, and each of the three onboard slots has its own backplate for additional heat dissipation.

High-Conductivity Thermal Pads
Each thermal pad improves overall system heat transfer by conducting heat generated by the power stages to the heatsink. A spare thermal pad is also included in the package for future maintenance.

Metal Backplate
A metal plate spans the back of the ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero, forming a reinforced platform for a smooth DIY PC build.

Chipset Heatsink
A dedicated heatsink dissipates heat from the chipset to ensure optimal operating temperatures.

PCIE® SLOT Q-RELEASE
A physical button unlocks the security latch of the first PCIe slot with a single press, greatly simplifying the removal of a PCIe card from the motherboard when it's time to upgrade to a new GPU or other compatible device.

AI COOLING II
Balance the temperatures and acoustics of any build with a single click. A proprietary ASUS algorithm suppresses unnecessary noise while running a quick stress test, then monitors CPU temperatures to dynamically adjust fans to optimal speeds.
