The patented design of the HandShoeMouse is based on several years of development work and support from the Erasmus University Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The design, based on anatomy and field research, led to a supporting body for the palm that prevents excessive muscle tension in the hand, fingers, and thumb. The HandShoeMouse provides the user with a tool to operate a computer without experiencing overuse injuries. The highly supportive shape prevents strain on joints, tendons, nerves, and muscles. Instead of gripping the mouse in a cramped posture, the full-surface support for the hand, fingers, and thumb ensures that pressure is widely distributed over the entire hand at a natural and comfortable 25-degree angle.
