Depending on the hygienic requirements, it is available with a sterilizable exchangeable membrane or a permanently installed silicone membrane with IP68 protection. The clean function simplifies the cleaning process by deactivating the keypad during disinfection. Like all Active Key hygiene keyboards with the name suffix -12 (e.g., AK-C7412, AK-C4012), the AK-C8112 hygiene keyboard also has a particularly flat key profile. This is also shown by a phosphorgel emulation test of the AK-C8100 hygiene keyboard and the AK-C7412 hygiene keyboard, which was carried out together with the Ostbayerische Technische Hochschule Amberg-Weiden. With the keyboard with the low key profile (AK-C7412), significantly fewer to no cleaning residues remain in the key gaps after wipe disinfection than with the keyboard with the higher profile (AK-C8100).
