What is datAshur Pro?
The iStorage datAshur is the world's most secure, easy-to-use, and affordable USB 3.0 flash drive. It is PIN-locked and uses XTS-AES 256-bit military-grade hardware encryption. The datAshur uses a built-in, rechargeable battery that allows the user to lock their data with a 7-15 digit PIN. This PIN is entered via the keypad on the device before the drive is connected to a computer via USB.
Data stored on the datAshur Pro is instantly encrypted by the device's hardware-based encryption technology, protecting it from unauthorized access, even if the device is lost or stolen. The datAshur automatically locks itself as soon as the device is disconnected from the computer or the USB power supply is deactivated. It is also possible to set a time after which the datAshur Pro should automatically shut down.
The datAshur Pro is ready for immediate use as it requires no software installations or drivers. It is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome, Android, Thin Clients, and Embedded Systems. datAshur Pro offers encryption via drag & drop and the simplicity of plug & play. It can be used with any software.
The datAshur Pro can be configured with different user and admin PINs. This makes the device perfect for company-wide use. If a user forgets their PIN, the drive can still be unlocked by an administrator via the admin PIN. In this case, the administrator simply sets a new user PIN, and the device can continue to be used. The datAshur has a reset function that allows you to remove the user and admin PINs, delete all data on the drive, generate a new encryption code, and reuse the drive as if it were new. This process can be repeated as often as necessary.
Since the iStorage datAshur Pro is unlocked via the on-board keypad and not via a computer keyboard, it is immune to keylogger attacks and "Brute Force" attacks. The datAshur Pro protects your data with a "Brute Force" defense mechanism. If user and admin PINs have been set, and a user enters their PIN incorrectly 10 times in a row, the protection mechanism is activated and deletes the user PIN. Now only the admin has access to the data stored on the device. If the admin also enters their PIN incorrectly 10 times in a row, the device deletes all its data and resets itself, so that the drive has to be reformatted and both user and admin PINs have to be reset.
The datAshur Pro is an investment that will benefit you for years to come. The device is robust, features extruded aluminum, uses a waterproof housing, is tamper-proof, and protects against physical damage. The components of the internal drive are also enclosed with a tamper-proof casing.
Why should I choose the datAshur Pro?
Did you know that millions of flash drives are lost or stolen every year? Have you ever thought about what it would mean for you if someone else gained access to your data? Your sensitive company data would be at the mercy of whoever finds it...
Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) now levies a penalty clause against companies and government agencies of £500,000 for serious security breaches relating to data protection law. This includes the loss of unencrypted USB drives containing customer data. The ICO has made strong recommendations to encrypt all business-related data, as encrypted data, even if lost or stolen, does not pose a risk to the respective company.
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
The European Union is on the verge of implementing a penalty clause of €20,000,000 or 4% of annual turnover against companies that violate the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The impending legislation obliges anyone who stores information about EU citizens to implement adequate security measures to protect this data from theft and loss.
The loss of confidential data can have a devastating effect on companies and end-users. It can lead to severe fines, the downfall of entire companies, damage to reputation, and job losses. The iStorage datAshur Pro can protect you from this.
What is the difference between software and hardware encryption?
Software Encryption:
- Complex passwords can be easily and quickly cracked using a "Brute Force" attack
- Numerous, even free, programs can be found on the Internet that can easily crack passwords
- Software encryption can be easily circumvented by using "Key Loggers." These record keystrokes and thus the entered password
- Software encryption can be compromised by computer viruses
- Software encryption is much slower compared to hardware encryption
- Software encryption must be installed on every computer where the drive is to be used.
- Software encryption shares computer resources with other programs on the computer, so the encryption can only be as secure as the computer itself.
Hardware Encryption:
- The datAshur Pro cannot be attacked via a "Brute Force" attack
- The datAshur Pro is not susceptible to keyloggers, as the PIN is entered on the device and not via a computer keyboard
- The datAshur Pro requires no software installations on the computer and can be used on Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome, Android, "Thin Clients," and Embedded Systems
- Encryption on the device occurs in real-time, so there are no speed losses
- No software or driver installations are required for operation
