Accelerate your PC to NVMe™ speed
Whether it's performance power for your games or fast processing of large graphics: with the SSD 980, you can help your computer achieve strong performance. The 980 is a smart and cost-effective choice for high SSD speed – enabled by a PCIe® 3.0 interface and NVMe™ technology.
Packed with power – for high speed
High sequential read and write speeds of up to 3,500 and 3,000 MB/s respectively[1] – so you can get started quickly. The SSD 980 can be more than 6.2 times faster than a Samsung SATA SSD2,3 and uses Samsung's NVMe™ SSD technology to achieve high NVMe™ speed.
Excellent choice for gamers
If you work with large files or play graphics-intensive games, you need strong performance. The SSD 980 supports Full Power Mode for high performance with low latency and offers you high potential NVMe™ performance for a fast gaming experience.
Designed for durability
Keep your data safe – with an SSD that has staying power. With up to 600 TBW[2] and a limited 5-year manufacturer's warranty[3], the SSD 980 offers high endurance and proven durability. This is made possible by Samsung's specially developed technologies, including the modern controller, V-NAND flash memory, and the latest firmware.
Effective protection against overheating
High-performance SSDs require appropriate temperature management. To provide consistent performance, the SSD 980 is equipped with a nickel coating that can improve the thermal level of the controller. In addition, a heat spreader dissipates operating heat and can thus effectively regulate the temperature of the flash memory.
Practical temperature
management
With Samsung's current thermal regulation algorithm, the SSD 980 can control temperatures independently and thus operate with consistent and reliable performance. To minimize performance fluctuations in the long term, Samsung's Dynamic Thermal Guard technology keeps the operating temperature of the SSD 980 at an appropriate level.
Samsung Magician Software
Advanced drive management made easy – with Samsung Magician software. The user-friendly software solution helps you keep an eye on your SSD at all times. This allows you to keep your drive up to date with updates, monitor status parameters and speed, and even optimize performance.
It is recommended to always update the firmware of your Samsung SSDs to the latest version.
